Mrs. Sandra Perkins holds a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism from the Mesoamericana UniversityOaxaca, Mexico. She has been teaching Spanish for twenty-two years in a variety of capacities including teaching for the Horseheads School District for the School Without Walls program, STC BOCES for the Adult Education Program, Adjunct Professor for Elmira College, was a Spanish teacher for Corning Christian Academy and now is currently the Senior High Spanish Teacher at Notre Dame High School.
At Notre Dame, she teaches Spanish II, Spanish III, English as a Second Language and supervises the Spanish ACE class. Mrs. Perkins was born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico while her husband is from Elmira. They have two bilingual children. In her spare time, she loves to go shopping, likes to travel & cook, and enjoys time with friends and family. Mrs. Perkins enjoys teaching Spanish because it is her first language.
She shared “My philosophy is that I believe that students should be actively engaged in reading, writing, and practice speaking Spanish and also be exposed to Latin culture.” Mrs. Perkins encourages students needing additional assistance to stop by her classroom to schedule a time that works both for her and the stude
