Ms. Miriam Castaneda

Ms. Castaneda joins Notre Dame as a Spanish teacher, teaching Spanish A, Spanish I Jr., and Spanish I. She brings a diverse academic and professional background, with a law degree and two master’s degrees from Mexico, as well as experience teaching at the university level. Before joining Notre Dame, Ms. Castaneda worked as a law professor at UNITEC Law School in Guadalajara, Mexico, where she taught students at the university level. She also brings more than 10 years of professional experience in corporate law, immigration support, administration, and client-focused environments, as well as experience working with children and families in New York.

As a bilingual professional with experience navigating both educational and professional environments in Mexico and the United States, Ms. Castaneda brings strong communication skills, cultural awareness, organization, and a genuine passion for helping others learn and grow. She is passionate about creating an engaging and supportive language-learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and using Spanish to communicate. She looks forward to helping her students develop their Spanish language skills while building an appreciation for the diverse cultures, traditions, and perspectives of the Spanish-speaking world.

For Ms. Castaneda, she enjoys teaching Spanish because she believes learning a language is about much more than vocabulary and grammar, it is about connecting with people, discovering cultures, and seeing the world from new perspectives.
