Jesse Westbrook is a 7th and 8th grade English teacher. He recently taught first-year college writing and rhetoric at Penn State, where he received his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in English and Creative Writing. He also currently works as a Writing Coach for the SUNY online education program. Mr. Westbrook believes in teaching critical reading, thinking, and writing as skills applicable to far more than just a student’s English class—as skills that students can sharpen throughout the rest of their education and then use daily as they interact with the world. He also strongly believes that, for the classroom to offer an optimal learning experience, all voices should be heard and respected. Mr. Westbrook resides in Elmira, which is his hometown. In his free time, he enjoys running, playing basketball, reading, writing, and watching his favorite sports teams. He looks forward to a successful and rewarding year with his 7th and 8th grade students.
