Mr. Erik Rominger
The oldest of 5 siblings I was born in Rochester NY in December 1976. My family moved to Elmira when I was very young and I attended elementary school at Our Lady of Lourdes before the transition to Holy Family. Having teachers like Brenda Lisi, Elizabeth Berliner, and Peggy Updyke during my elementary and middle school years inspired me to consider education as a career. In high school, I was fortunate to attend a private school outside of Philadelphia where I continued to develop a deeper affection for Social Studies through the various instructors and courses I was exposed to. At Lehigh University I chose history as my major and through various professors I gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for Social Studies. Throughout my entire educational experience my parents encouraged and fed my curiosity for history. Their support was crucial to my choosing to pursue my teacher certification at Mansfield University. My wife and I returned to the area in 2010 and I was hired to teach here at Notre Dame. Every teacher I have been lucky enough to work alongside has been critical to my development and improvement since I came to Notre Dame. One colleague in particular provided friendship and guidance to me during my time here and I am indebted to John Cain for setting such a great example for me and our department to follow. My wife and I live in West Elmira with our 3 children.
